I’m excited to let you know about my new song ‘The Wood‘, which will be available on major platforms starting September 1st, 2023. I wrote ‘The Wood’ back in 2019, during my Masters course at ICMP. When I perform it, audiences often join in with the chorus, making it one of my most popular tunes. Recording it became a priority after recovering from illness last year. Thankfully, a friend offered the perfect attic space with great acoustics for capturing the vocals. I then worked on the arrangement and production.

This year has been busy, and though I had to focus on other projects for a bit, I’ve been working on the song whenever possible. Now, I’m excited to share the version I’m proud of. While I’m still learning music production, I believe that by completing projects, learning from each one, and embracing mistakes, I’m getting closer to my goals.

The song holds deep meaning for me. Inspired by the ancient woodlands of Devon, where I live, it explores our relationship with nature, which outlasts us and provides us shelter. It also touches on the fragility of relationships and on life’s uncertainties. Ultimately, it’s about finding comfort in the realisation that we’re more than just individuals – we’re part of nature’s story.
